After the Silently album, I had finished my MBA and was busy with other things. This phase lasted for about 2-3 years, during which I didn’t make any music at all. I did, however, play synths regularly.
Around 2010 I made my first songs. I think Dark Times was the first song I finished. I think the style was drum’n bass. The bass sound came from a Future Retro XS synth and was supported by a Moog Voyager. The horn-like sound is from a Roland V-synth XT. Synth sounds came from Jomox Sunsyn, Studio Electronics Omega-8, Access Virus TI and Waldorf Q+.
The next were First Light and Darkland. The sound sources are pretty much the same, but I also used Hartmann Neuron for Darkland. The strange keyboard/percussion style synth sound comes from Neuron. The bass side was done by a Moog Voyager. The lead came from a Studio Electronics SE-1x. In First Light, the main bass came from the SE-1x, another slightly distorted bass sound from the Future Retro XS, a filtered pad sound from the Omega-8 and Clavia Nord Modular G2 and the stab-style synth sound came from the SunSyn. The distorted lead sound came from the Novation Supernova 2Rack.
Next, I composed Jazz In Space. The filtered synth was from a Future Retro XS, bass from a Moog Voyager, lead from an SE-1x. Rhodes came from a Clavia Nord Modular G2.
I had deliberately avoided dance-type songs, but Time Dive worked quite well. The vocal sound was recognisably from a Roland V-Synth XT. I used a Novation Supernova 2Rack for the lead sound and filtered synth sound. The bass came from a Studio Electronics SE-1x, as I recall. Pad sound and piano came from a Roland Fantom XR. Arpeggio and some synth sounds came from the Access Virus TI.
The songs I remember least are Contorted, Edge Of Space and Drops. I think they are the weakest songs on the album. I used a lot of analogue synthesizers on the Drop track. The bass sound came from a Studio Electronics SE-1x, at least on Contorted and Edge Of Space. Otherwise the sounds came largely from virtual analogs, Roland V-Synth XT and Roland Fantom XR and sampler.
